Crochet Projects

Hear me out as to why I've included this on my work website. Crocheting projects are analagous to RMIS projects because:

1) They are most successful when you start with a plan (e.g., pattern) and stick with it.

2) While you start with a plan, there is definite room for personalization (choosing different colors) but the general concept can't change (a scarf pattern won't create a sweater).

3) There's a clear goal in mind at the start of a project and clear proof of success.

4) The aim isn't perfection. And sometimes the imperfections are what makes it special.

5) If mistakes are made, it's better to catch them early, back them out and fix than to ignore, thinking you'll address later.

In my opinion, crocheting makes me a better project manager...but I haven't convinced my tax advisor that yarn should be a business write-off.

Enjoy! And if you have a pattern you like, let me know!

Purple Scarf

This is the project that started it all...or restarted it all. I took a crochet mini-course in elementary school but hadn't done anything recently. On a whim, my friend and I went to Michael's for a crochet course where we learned this pattern - a narrow scarf. This lavender-y/mauve color became my signature color!

Baby Booties

Crochet Baby Booties are a GREAT way to pass the time on an airplane (because I was flying a lot and couldn't work on plane due to the tight seats and the lack of privacy). These booties or crocheted pacifier clips make great baby gifts.

Snowpersons

My siblings received these guys as gift add-ons for Christmas one year. I wasn't particularly fond of the hats and frankly wasn't sure if they were meant to be ornaments or key chain dangles. Hopefully they didn't end up in the trash!

Peep Bunnies

I LOVE THESE BUNNIES! The pattern is super easy and fun. The bunnies work best with bright Peep colors. Most of these were given away. I see a few at my sister's house every Easter.
